Convention on the Rights of the Child

The ideological basis for the Aflatoun Programme is founded in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Aflatoun Programme ties into to CRC in the following way:

Aflatoun is a concept by children, for children; equal rights for boys and girls are embedded in the class material and programme design.

The Aflatoun Programmeexplains to childrentheir rights to protection fromdiscrimination, sexual abuse and exploitation.

Aflatoun emphasizes the importance of education by using formal and informal education systems to disseminate CSFE concepts.

Aflatoun is build around social and economic rights; it advocates and explains the importance of the CRC to children, parents, teachers and community members.
