Wati describes his favorite things

Wati is an Aflatoun student from Uganda and he tells us “Saving, because this money we save helps us a lot, like some time, I had saved my money and I had no books, and we were beginning the term... that was primary six second term... as the term was beginning I came without books, but on the first day they came to collect our money... they told me if you want to withdraw you can withdraw, I withdrew some and I went and bought books, so it [accumulated savings] helped me in buying books.”

Welcome to Aflatoun! Child Social & Financial Education

Aflatoun believes that all children have a right to quality education that inspires them to dream, act, and be the change they want to see in the world. There are 2.2 billion children globally and half live in poverty. Aflatoun teaches children the building blocks to be agents of change for their own development, and we know children can be the drivers for a more equitable world today and tomorrow.

Aflatoun has three building blocks that it is taking to 1 million children in 75 countries by 2010:

  • The Aflatoun Concept: Child Social & Financial Education (CSFE) balances social and financial education with a focus on children,
  • The Aflatoun Programme: brings the concept to the children through a balanced curriculum of fun workbooks and activities,
  • The Aflatoun Network: consisting of the implementing partners, who contextualise and implement the Aflatoun programme in their countries, donors, financial institutions, international NGOs, governmental institutions, academic and research institutions.
