A centavo saved everyday goes a long way!

Ms. Villaflor, a Grade III teacher from Cordova Central School in the Philippines says “I find deep joy in being able to help my students become aware that their centavo saved everyday goes a long way. They [Children] have learned the value of savings and thrift, and they take responsibility in doing their small part in helping to break the cycle of poverty. The children realize that even with the meager resources that they have, they can still find ways to save. The parents are also happy to see that little by little every week, the children’s passbooks show the growth of their own money.”

Aflatoun

Aflatoun provides children aged 6-14  years old with Social & Financial Education. Today, Aflatoun is reaching over 500,000 children and helping over 200,000 children save in 24 countries. Aflatoun is also in dialogue with 52 other countries who are interested in implementing the Aflatoun Programme.

Aflatoun provides children with basic life skills, encouraging them to save their resources and start social and financial microenterprises. Through Social & Financial Education, children are empowered to make a positive change in their lives and in their communities, eventually breaking the cycle of poverty in which many find themselves.

Through a growing network of local implementing partners, donors and other stakeholders, Aflatoun aims to provide Social and Financial Education to 1 million children in 75 countries by the end of 2010.
